چکیده

Heart Failure With Preserved Ejection Fraction Heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF) or diastolic heart failure (HF) accounts for approximately half of HF cases in the community, and the portion of HF with preserved ejection fraction (EF) is increasing. Patients with HFpEF have limited functional capacity and poor prognosis. With ongoing shifts in the age distribution of the population, the burden of HFpEF is projected to increase. To date, there is no proven therapy for HFpEF. There is an urgent need for effective therapies for HFpEF.

Exercise training in patients with heart failure and preserved ejection fraction: meta-analysis of randomized control trials.

BACKGROUND Heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFPEF) is common and characterized by exercise intolerance and lack of proven effective therapies. Exercise training has been shown to be effective in improving cardiorespiratory fitness (CRF) in patients with systolic heart failure. In this meta-analysis, we aim to evaluate the effects of exercise training on CRF, quality of life, and ...

Chronic baroreflex activation: a potential therapeutic approach to heart failure with preserved ejection fraction.

Heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF) is a substantial public health issue, equal in magnitude to heart failure with reduced ejection fraction. Clinical outcomes of HFpEF patients are generally poor, related annual accrual of health care expenses amount to billions of dollars, and no therapy has been shown to be effective in randomized clinical trials. Baroreflex activation the...

Baseline characteristics of patients in the treatment of preserved cardiac function heart failure with an aldosterone antagonist trial.

BACKGROUND Treatment of Preserved Cardiac Function with an Aldosterone Antagonist (TOPCAT) is an ongoing randomized controlled trial of spironolactone versus placebo for heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF). We sought to describe the baseline clinical characteristics of subjects enrolled in TOPCAT relative to other contemporary observational studies and randomized clinical tri...

The Impact Exerted on Clinical Outcomes of Patients With Chronic Heart Failure by Aldosterone Receptor Antagonists: A Meta-Analysis of Randomized Controlled Trials

BACKGROUND Aldosterone receptor antagonists (ARAs) have been associated with improved clinical outcomes in patients with heart failure with reduced left ventricular ejection fraction (HFREF), but not in those with heart failure with preserved left ventricular ejection fraction (HFpEF). With the aim to study this topic more deeply, we carried out a meta-analysis of selective and non-selective AR...

Transcatheter Interatrial Shunt Device for the Treatment of Heart Failure: Rationale and Design of the Randomized Trial to REDUCE Elevated Left Atrial Pressure in Heart Failure (REDUCE LAP-HF I).

UNLABELLED Heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF), a major public health problem with high morbidity and mortality rates, remains difficult to manage because of a lack of effective treatment options. Although HFpEF is a heterogeneous clinical syndrome, elevated left atrial pressure-either at rest or with exertion-is a common factor among all forms of HFpEF and one of the primary...
